The Russian jet posed no threat to turkey. they would without a doubt have know it was on a sortie against ISIS / Rebels across the Syrian border.
From my understanding any possible incursion into Turkish airspace would have been a matter of a couple of miles.
The jet crashed in Syria and was at low altitude.
Many incursions occur each year by the Russians, Yanks, Chinese, you name it. Jets are scrambled and the preferred course of action is to escort them away as any hostile act could erupt into uncontrolled conflaguration, but oh no Turkish fighters shoot it down, now why would that be?
It's been reported one of the crew has been captured by rebels, who the Russians have been targeting. If these guys execute him or produce a grizzly video similar to what happened to the Jordanian pilot, there WILL BE HELL TO PAY.
Turkey's motives need to be severely scrutinised over this, however I don't think the obvious answer to that will please many!
Turkey have irrefutably been aiding and abetting ISIS!
Probably one of the biggest dumbass moves in quite a while.
This conflict just escalated dramatically.
