Putin isnt so much stopping IS as he is helping his buddy Assad.
The main reason the West have 'dragged their heels' on this one is because they can't work out exactly what to do after they remove ISIS. Its not as simple as dropping bombs you need a full plan for the area. The other reason is they are not so keen to leave Assad there.
We just have to trust our leaders again.. sorta.. IMHO.
