Go for it mate, look right into it, it will change your life considerably.
I had both eyes done with the old PRK surgery around 20 years ago. Now that was pain for about 2 weeks afterwards, but got some great drugs to take, lol. Think of severe welding flash and times that by 100. I had one eye done about 6 months before the other one. The change was great after a couple of weeks for it to improve with healing.
Anyway after about 10 years i realized my vision was getting bad again, so about 7 years ago i went to a different place and told them about the PRK and if they could perform the new Lasik surgery on an eye that had had PRK on it.
Old mate looked into my eyes and done some tests and said yes that my eyes did have enough of a natural lens on it for Lasik to be performed. I said great, book me in for both eyes pronto.
I had no problem reading, just seeing in the distance was a blurr
The cost was $2600 per eye.
Now this is the bit that blew me away in this hard sell world of today.
The Doc explained to me that if i wanted both eyes done he would do it but then i would need reading glasses. He suggested only doing one eye so it is used for long distance vision and the other eye is used for reading. I was having trouble getting my head around how that would work, but he said my brain would work that out without me even knowing about it, with a chuckle.
So i said lets go for it. The result of Lasik is instant and painless, completely painless in my experience. Straight after the procedure i had a clearish eye shield placed over the eye with small holes in it which you have to wear till you see old mate the next day for a check up. I could read the eye chart through the little holes, really was instant and good.
Anyway, like old Doc said my brain takes care of which eye it needs to look through and i don`t even notice anything except clear vision near and far away.
It really is amazing and life changing.
Sorry about the long post, but it is that good and i was more than happy to find a doctor who was bloody good and not just in it for the money and took the time to explain to me to just get the one eye done and i would be alot better off and better in the hip pocket.
