    An example of use of the new micro-spectrometer technology might be if say Apple put one in an iPhone, maybe you could hold your iPhone up to a piece of metal and see if it was gold, and what carat gold it is.

    You could hold your iPhone up to a mole on your arm and it can tell you if the mole is cancer etc..
