"With world leaders desperate for a deal in Paris, Indian economist Rathin Roy from think-tank the National Institute of Finance and Public Policy says the best prospect is not to force India to abandon coal, but instead pay to modernise dirty power plants.

RATHIN ROY: Without the finance, the technology, it's going to mean a lot of dirty coal being burnt in India, with the appropriate finance and technology it's going to mean much cleaner coal being burnt in India, with a much lower carbon intensity, and a much more significant progress towards the global 2 per cent target than you would have otherwise."

I wonder what clean coal techs they are referring to
