You make an interesting point about the grade. In the 2010 annual report it states "The operating conditions at site are subject to heavy rain and potential flooding. The selection of 6WD articulated trucks will match the operating environment and allows the pit ramp gradient to be steepened to 1 in 8 extending to a maximum depth of 215 metres below surface." While operating environment won't change over the long term, the design depth of the pit has been reduced to 180 metres below surface. The 1 in 8 grade is no longer necessary reducing the need for 6WD trucks. It could give them more flexibility with equipment.
