In fairness, solar panels do "suck up energy from the sun", approximately 20% to 30% of energy from the sun that strikes them in fact. They also have a detrimental effect on plant photosynthesis, but only in their immediate shadow. So, you know, there's merit to her argument, it's just a matter of scale.
Just like with the AGW alarmists. We know that extra CO2 will have a small warming effect on the atmosphere, just as solar cells will cast a small shadow. But that doesn't mean that all plant life in the vicinity will catastrophically die off, nor will extra CO2 in the atmosphere catastrophically cause the planet to boil.
