What interests me is that people never seem to understand what motivates them to be pro or anti alternative energies.

Here's an example: I hate alternative energies, because if I liked them, then I would be like those greenies with their unwashed hair and dreadlocks and filthy bare feet. SInce I can't say this explicitly, I will allow my ego to formulate an acceptable argument to cover my real feelings.

Another example: I hate anything right wing, because I'm anti-authority. I have an anti-authority stance because my parents neglected me. Since the oil industry is more right-leaning, I hate it. Therfore I like solar. Since I cannot say this explicitly, I will allow my ego to formulate a socially acceptable argument that has nothing to do with my real reasoning.
