The infill to make this story work is a thousand times greater than the story and then what does it produce?
The story is about how the spiritual world will overcome the material world. That's it!
What it's produced for many Christians is a series of that takes a set of encyclopaedias to argue their point.
If we have free will why did God kill those who exercised it?
Why did God drown defenceless babies?
Why did God drown millions who had never even heard of His laws?
Why did God flaunt justice in the most arbitrary way?
Why did God fail to see this coming so completely?
Why inflict so much senseless horror on so many defenceless animals?
Why ruin a planet when as God He could just as easily have zapped people away as He supposedly zapped animals onto earth at the moment of creation.
And I could go on and on with all these silly questions and fundamentalist Christians will turn themselves inside out with answers that just don't cut it.
The reason is because it is a symbolic story about a Prophet, Messenger, whatever, like Jesus who was rejected like Jesus and a spiritual reckoning took place, this is clear to those who have the insight to understand such symbolic language.
