The god put forward by religions most certainly doesn't exist.
I'm not so sure though that we are not pustules of a greater consciousness that are being challenged in a physical world to manifest intellectual and spiritual growth. I can't get a clear image of why nature would even exist on its own. I don't think we can be conscious if consciousness doesn't already exist. I simply don't know but I'm open to the possibility that the universe somehow wanted us to check-it-out.
