Religion is BS

I was born a JW & into a very strong JW family. i stopped practicing after about 20 years but still have a great relationship with my family - sure they are dissapointed, but they accept my decision. I am now free

The vast majority of people believe what they are born into, even though most of the time when you really think about the whole picture, it really doesnt add up.

I was born a JW but could have easily been born into a muslim or catholic family, just as easily as i could have been born into poverty or riches..

Religion is always the same story - you arent JW you will die, you arent Catholic you will go to hell, not Muslim? oh then u will die too - you having bad thoughts? you're being misled - its a cycle of fear.

the bible says God is love, so why would i be destroyed or go to hell because i was born into the 'wrong' religion?? the bible says Honour thy father and thy mother so wouldn't it be a HUGE dishonor to my family were i to change religion? - as an example i've always thought to myself, when i was doing preaching work as a JW what reason do people have to listen to what we are saying? if a Muslim came to my door i wouldn't listen to what they have to say, because i already know the truth (or so i think) so why should they listen to us? am i going to burn in a eternal hell fire for not listening to a catholic at my door? should i risk dishonoring my parents & angering god for listening what other have to say or looking into other religions? is my good friend Abdul going to to hell or going to be destroyed at armageddon because he was born a muslim? its all bullsht

to me the bible is almost like a book of the Jews. the book of Joshua for example - how can a God of love command his followers to destroy an entire nation of people? Further, God sent hailstones to kill even more than Joshua and his army were able to put to death? so soldiers & their families were destroyed so that the Israelites could have their 'promised land', they were destroyed because they were sinners? because they worshipped false gods? well then destroy us all right now. i thought we had free will? i thougtht we were all created equally, so why would god choose israel to be his chosen people - to fulfill a promise? to fail at spreading his message?

you people come here to argue religion & try to prove each other wrong. you are all brainwashed from birth. you are taught something your whole life so that is what you KNOW, you believe its true without question, but why?

anyway this is really just scratching the surface i might add more thoughts when i get time. good opening for discussion - it would be good to keep an open discussion & question things, but i expect a lot of DRONES to get on board & let us know that we (or I could be alone) are wrong =O
