BHP has cut costs to the bone the last 12-18 months to keep pace with the commodity price decline. At some stage this year commodities prices will turn up when the higher cost producers fall by the way side and will likely occur when no one expects it. What you will then see is a very low cost BHP on a cycle of margin expansion and a short covering the likes of which you don't see very often. BHP is coming off a 12 year low and I for one don't think the world is in that bad a place despite China's woes. When there is blood on the streets the smart ones buy and two years from now you will be wishing you had bought more. Just my opinion.
