Well, to those people who have posted already - what a fabulous group you are, truly. Given that access to this thread is open to anyone over 18, I'm continually impressed, perhaps mostly by the honesty (with occasional exceptions ).
Santa has arrived late for me (problems apparently with the reindeer), but I now have my books on Trading and Charting and will start going through them. I'm looking forward to this.
@sintrate - I totally agree with your comments about the initial bank roll etc to be a full-time DTer. Plus, I think that trading is more complicated than being an investor, with more to know etc, especially the TA. If I do the maths and want to earn, let's say about $75,000 p.a. from trading (average wage) and I expect to earn an average profit of, let's say 20% nett from all my trades, then I need a pot of about $375,000. I think this is achievable and realistic, keeping in mind that there is plenty to learn etc. - you just need the $375K pot
That's the only reason I mentioned in an earlier post that I don't think I'll last until the end of the year, but might have to get a job until I get my Super. My current pot is about 1/13th of that and the sums don't add up.
But, the good news is that I'm learning a lot, doing well with a small amount of money etc., and I'm motivated - all good for the future.

Is it possible to create a "sticky" on HC? I know that the ST people have a knowledge base thread, which is well worth a read. Just thinking that these honest observations made by the DTers are worth preserving: to re-read occasionally and to refer the newbies to. Do-able?
