I have reviewed a large number of youtube videos on yowie and the vast majority like the chocolate.  The few that did not like it tend to be mainly adults - perhaps with expectations of European chocolate (i.e. kinder eggs).  Plastic-taste comments are very rare.

• Yowie inclusions are manufactured to international quality and safety standards using FDA approved materials
• Yowie regularly conduct independent supply chain testing and storage reviews
• Being a high fat product chocolate absorbs taint very easily and needs to be stored away from paint, soaps, cleaning products and other scented goods
• Taint in chocolate can produce an unpleasant taste but does not provide a health risk to the consumer
• Foil packaging is designed specifically to act as a barrier to taint in chocolate.
