On the information available it seems that So Co might have been given a loan to acquire the shares in the respective companies. The exact details of So Co's purchases are unclear without further research. I note that the shares in NTL and other companies could have been acquired at some other time.

However, what is clear is that through that means the Hills have acquired a reasonably direct personal interest in more NTL shares. Also noted is the shares in BPL, which NTL owns a double digit % of.
