My take on the irony of the situation whereby a diagnostic company is shorted is such that the mum and dad investors out there, approaching retirement, will have their wealth diminished and thus require further pension support and the like as they get older, or not be in a position to afford as many pathology/diagnostic services (thus increasing latter life medical costs) - likely outweighing any cost savings the government achieves from proposing said changes anyhow!
