What a load of tosh - probably needed to do this because done sweet FA as a MP and needs publicity. I'll just say when I went to the USA, and having a long surname that does not sound Australian, they asked me the question. I just said family migrated in early 70s, became Australian citizen in early 80s, and you can't change the surname your born with. The guy laughed, took my finger prints and iris scan and off I went. Guess she felt aggrieved by the questioning and got sent for an interview - presume if she wasn't an MP would have been refused entry (i.e. would like to hear the other side here and I think it will be a surprise - American immigration officials IMO far better than Australia's IMO).
