Good points but then look at Iceland ... they export huge amounts of electricity to France and UK through underwater cables - all that power is generated by geothermal plants.
So it does have a place but only in certain geographies where nearby population density coupled with long term government support through the structure of power supply contracts is married to geothermal sites that are close to the surface (close being a relative statement).
Anyway who cares I find IoT much more exciting
