"8. Comments by the General Public  Craig Hale, LVVWD/SNWA Craig indicated that the RFP panel met over a period of 4-6 weeks to listen to presentations and select a vendor, who will be doing the next Imagery and LiDAR project. They selected a company called Geophex for aerials. In 2016, they will do the imagery project. He said Merrick will be doing the LiDAR project. He found out last Friday that the Regional Flood Control agency will be contributing monies to do Quality Level 1 LiDAR data acquisition for the urban core of Las Vegas. They’ll do 600 square miles and have the option of doing contours. They’ll move forward on acquisition pending board approval and hope to have a quick turnaround in September 2015. The imagery will be six (6) inches with an option to do three (3) inches in parts of the valley. This is a year-to-year contract. The County is looking at NearMap as a possible image service provider. Robert reported the County is going to work with the Assessor’s Office and get a one-year subscription to NearMap and connect it with OpenDoor (OD) and check data usage. They are going to fly over Vegas three times a year and give 2.8” photography and it will be hosted. As soon as this subscription is up, we’ll lose access to it. Some of the companies out there are producing quick turnaround times which are a lot faster than our 4-month turnaround. Some companies are doing it in seven (7) days. He said he talked to the NearMap representatives at the Esri conference. They are limited to eight (8) gigabytes a month of data output from their services. This is going to be OD only. He might restrict it to a couple of groups if it begins to bump up to the eight (8) gig level. It will depend on if the Assessor’s office wants it. NearMap has its own server and web app which was easy to use and can tell you to the millisecond when the image was taken."
