MARKET TALK/AU-EQ: Zimplats Hits New High; In Play 08/05/03 12:02:00
1202 [Dow Jones] Tightly held Zimbabwe Platinum Mines (ZIM) posts fresh all-time high of A$3.80, up 20 cents or 5.6%. Major stakeholder Implats says talking with Absa Bank about possibly acquiring its indirect 15% stake in Zimplats, building on its existing indirect stake of 36%. If this sale proceeds, Implats must make offer to Zimplats minorities at either A$1.90/share or independent valuation. Eagle Research Keith Goode said in April such a valuation could exceed A$10.
