    LOL, was some years ago but getting luggage stolen on the trains in Spain was a common compliant so I found out latter. I arrived in Seville on a bus from Portugal and left my large suitcase outside a travel accommodation office as I went inside to check on available accommodation, came out and find this little old lady dragging my suit case away

    As for safe places to travel, yes I agree go some where you want to go and just take note of the percussions for that country.

    Not quite, it's important to understand the culture of the counties you visit as it may quite different to here. For example, in Indonesia displays of affection in public (ie kissing) is not acceptable. Spitting and chewing gum in Singapore is illegal, quite acceptable for women to go topless on French beaches, actually people look twice if they are not LOL
