My own has been quite different. I've been moving around for at least the last 10 years and have been using various means to keep in touch with family and friends across the globe for that entire time.

So far I've had no problems at all with whatsapp, viber, line, skype. I love that they're free for app to app calls and I'm perfectly satisfied with the cost and quality of app to phone calls with skype.

My general observation of everyone I know who uses these apps is that they too have ALL had only positive experiences.

It seems to me that cases like yours might be exceptions to the norm. If so, then it doesn't appear that WorldPhone has much of a competitive edge over these other apps for the services that they're well known and trusted for.

I'm not downramping. I hold but not because they're a strong competitor against established apps like Skype, Line, Whatsapp, etc. The banking/ money transfer feature is nothing special. Paypal has been offering that through their smartphone app for at least a year now.

Instead, it's because their product offers something unique. Something that I, myself, would use to save money on roaming charges. The ability to have a local number when I travel for friends and family to easily contact me. Would love it even more if they included affordable data over 3G/4G through their local number rental. Data connection is what travelers need more than anything else. It's the one thing which allows them the most functionality of their smartphone and all its apps.
