having worked in Ag for the last 15 years, I can tell you that the top 10% of farmers make very good money , in most years. Obviously, you can be at the mercy of climate, but smart management, good resource base (water etc.) and best practice methodology usually mean the difference between profit and loss. The CDC deal suggested that the processor was buying raw product at a more expensive rate than AHF were selling, so I expect that there will be immediate synergies there. Also, with greater opportunities to value add to their products, I expect that to add significantly to their profit margins. Then there is the feel good effect around Asia that OZ's ag products are green and clean...
