What I love about Unilife is the fact that everyone thinks one person is completely responsible for everything that happens. Do R&D for too long its Al. Have customers sign deals and then be slow through drug approval, Al. Take longer to sign a deal, Al obviously has his finger some place. Choose the wrong color carpet in the foyer, what was Al thinking? You'd think there wasn't a Board of Directors, a Ramin, a CFO and a horde of lawyers and MBAs working the negotiations here. But apparently it's all Al. What these guys are trying to do, inject themselves into a well established marketspace against major players by differentiating, is very very hard to do and it takes lots and lots of money to do it. Perhaps the model they chose had made this even harder given contract to production lead times but it really was the only way that I can see to go about it. The short interest in UNIS reflects the difficulty and scepticism that likely success will occur. Perhaps in hindsight the hard long road should have been foreseeable by all who are invested in here. But you can't blame Al for your risky choices, a company is a collective of its owners managers funders and employees, not one man. I think this will succeed but everyone needs to clearly understand what they have bitten off when they invest in this type of thing.
