I have sold down some of mine as they have capital gain and I have lots of losses registered. Should I depart this earth, then the new AFI shares picked up at higher prices won't have taxable gains but I would lose all my losses as my beneficiaries cannot inherit these. That is why I do a bit of selling of AFI, in order to make use of my losses. But I do hop back into AFI when I see a quiet day and can buy them for lower than my opportunistic sales. It costs me little brokerage, net I am better off, selling for more than I buy, and I use up some of those massive cap.losses which have been registered to my name. I like the AFI!!!
