Hi Cujo, think you will find the "gross" is only new shorts taken out each day, it is not a net position. So if somebody takes 60k short and somebody else buys 20k to cover their shorts then the gross will still be 60k for that day. That's also why it is never negative, as it's not a net movement.
In shortman the graph gives the cumulative net position, but it is delayed due to reporting delays.
Think that's how it works anyway.
