I got this from a lady at comsec re. foreign accounts

this form makes it that no tax is withheld by the IRS on sale of stock."

with dividends - they withhold 15% so I am told - I assume that 15% would be gone forever.

Yes, your post confirms to me that their prices have dropped - dramatically.

And, there is no fee for the foreign exchange - the buy/sell price seems to cover that.

I thought - hmmm, I will bet they make up for it there - but, I checked on that day's price and it wasn't excessive either.

All in all, when I spoke to her - ok, fine, it might be slightly more expensive than going the US broker way and using someone like toxxic mentioned yonks back - the link I kept (currency online) - but, far less fuss and using someone that I am familiar with.

I run AJX through my fund - and, I am going to talk to the accountant next week to see if he is happy with the audit trail - on first pass, he seems relieved it is with comsec - but, I will set up a personal one first and put though a couple of tiddlers and make sure I know how the system works and that he (accountant) is 100% with the audits --- before I set the fund up with a foreign account.

Purrs will be ready for the US within 2 weeks - closer to a week with a fair breeze - and, also, if AJX goes to NY - that could make things much easier as well.
