Hi Pints, I saw interviews with libs over past couple of days where they are acknowledging that Rudd re-introduced offshore processing and added that no boat arrival would be settled in Australia. The lib spokesperson said they agreed with Rudd’s decision to finally go hard as Rudd’s former policy had under-mined the border security success of the Howard government. The Libs are willing to acknowledge Rudd’s decision but the rusted on abbott acolytes here cant bring themselves to do so.

Malcom Turnbull was able to emphasise the need for seemingly strong and harsh measures to both protect our borders and to save lives. The difference compared to Abbott is that he did it in a non divisive way, whereas Abbott thought he had to go around and vilify all and sundry.
