Dividend payout ratios ANZ 67.5% of EPS. CBA 78.2, NAB 88.7, WBC 73%. ANZ has the most wriggle room to absorb a drop in EPS to minimize lowering the dividend.

Drop in share price from 12 month high to todays close. ANZ wins with 38.8% followed by NAB on 37.3, WBC at 28.4 and CBA on 24.6%. The market clearly has more concerns about ANZ and NAB but all 4 have scored a kick in the guts. My point here, as all should know, the market overreacts both to the downside and upside.

Is the downside finished? I doubt it but I am sure that in 5 years when ANZ is pumping dividends into my retirement I'll be happy that I averaged a $25 entry.
