Yes, did CAJ know all the facts before taking over these practices? It does take time to negotiate buy-outs. It doesn't just happen on the day it is announced. Most of the deals were in the pipeline before the precipitous price plunge dating from early 2015. Conidi must have thought that the policies of the Labor Govt would be continued. Then you raise the question 'Did the sellers know?' Currently, I am not sure whether many diagnostic imaging practices are selling out. Conidi referred to exits if the Govt changes are enacted.
This root and branch review of Health is more about having to make savings because of the loss of revenue. CAJ has always promoted bulk-billing. For MRI, there is a limit on the number of Medicare approved machines. CAJ has only so many so approved.
