If the options didn't exist the story would be different the share price could float and trade in an honest way. The bar is set by the exercise price of the options unfortunately and that's an irresistible force for the weak willed shareholders of the company. Those options are black holes of the company's own making so we will need to live with them until they wash through and hope like hell they don't issue anymore unless the strike prices are set much much higher.
