... the options are dated 2018 , if the SP is high enough by then , you can convert them at 2 cents apiece into ordinary shares ...
The positive side is that you can get more oppies for your money than ordinary shares ...
... the negative side is that if the company does poorly , the options will expire worthless in 2018 , whereas the ordinary shares will still be worth something ( but not much ! ) ...
