"Two Melbourne teenagers and a young man have been arrested over prank videos where they pretend to fire fake AK-47s at unsuspecting victims.
The brothers, aged 20, 18 and 16, were arrested on Thursday after attending their local police station following a search of their South Morang home by Victoria Police's counter-terrorism unit.
"They were contacted by family and surrendered themselves into custody," assistant commissioner of counter-terrorism command Ross Guenther told reporters.


February 23, 2016: A trio of Melbourne brothers have followed up their suicide bomber prank by pretending to machine-gun strangers on the street.
Videos of the pranks were uploaded to social media on Tuesday and depict three men in traditional Middle Eastern attire pointing the fake gun at people across Melbourne.
"It's caused some significant alarm and some anxiety in the community at a time when we already have a heightened security environment," Mr Guenther said.
"We certainly don't want to See this type of behaviour proliferate."
The assistant commissioner says authorities are trying to get the videos pulled down.
"We certainly don't see it as childhood pranks," Mr Guenther said.
"I suppose to some they're stupid, and to others the content is actually really quite alarming."
Mr Guenther says the counter terrorism unit is involved because of how the video creates fear in the community and promotes criminal behaviour.
"I quite deliberately chose to bring this matter and pursue it within my command," he said.
"It portrays terrorists in a certain way and causes anxiety and problematic behaviours within the broader Victorian community, which is something we don't want at the moment."
