Victims of their own success?
The problem with their growth in biomass is that the demand has not kept pace at the current pricing.
Means that they are paying to feed and maintain biomass that they currently cannot sell without lowering the prices.
By freezing excess biomass it enables them to sell in alternative markets so should not have too much impact on prices in their primary markets. Also gives them more time to expand and grow their primary markets.
Years ago the farm gate price was around $9 to $9.50, now they are getting around $14 per kg.
