It reminds me of the story about the mouse and the scorpion.
They were trapped on a small island in the middle of a flooding river. The mouse new it could swim to safety and the scorpion couldn't.
The scorpion begged the mouse to save him but the mouse said you will kill me with your sting.
The scorpion promised he wouldn't as he wanted to live.
The mouse could see the logic in it so he agreed.
On his back the scorpion climbed and off they went.
Half way across the scorpion stung him!
As the mouse was dying and the scorpion was drowning he asked why did you do it, we're both going to die?
I'm sorry but it's just in my nature replied the scorpion.
