Swandc ......... he will be paying CGT regardless unless his personal situation would allow him to be exempt so, if his super is in pension phase, then by paying any CGT on his shares at this point then moving the shares into his SMSF (which would must be in pension phase) he would be exempt from any additional CGT however he needs to go to an adviser to ensure that he is OK
