I've been interested to read the Guyane data room presentation . What we are seeing is big, big potential reserves ( multiple billion barrel plus plays) and deep water and very expensive drilling ($30million + per well).
If you were an oil major eg Exxon having visited the HDR data room , in the current environment where billion barrel plays are not sitting there waiting to pluck, what would you do?
- Build a significant stake on the quiet
- Drive the price down with negative stories being released, plus an active short selling programme via your favourite broker (ML?)
- Wait for the final reults of Uganda and maybe the Mauri gas potential
- Jump in quickly with a bid before the market gets to change its negative sentiment
Bingo!!! Effective control of some of the best oil exploration potential on the planet for $2.50 -3.00 a share
As I have said befor on this site, I am not a great fan of conspiracy theories but I have a nasty feeling that we HDR shareholders may well be in the middle of a very clever play
