It has occurred to me that I doubled my capital outlay on this stock in a little over two years (a period during which the overall market went backwards), plus a cumulative total of some $2.50/share of dividends hit my bank account at various stages of my happy ownership of the company.
And now the shareholder-friendly Caltex board has kindly offered me an arrangement whereby I get to cash out completely tax-free and I walk away with a sizeable deferred tax asset, to boot.
If that's an outcome of being questionably competent, then I hope like heck I remain incompetent for a long time to come.
As for your "scapegoat" lament, isn't that a bit like when a bully looks for a fight, but gets a bloody nose and then runs crying to his mummy?
