Looks like Phil and Graeme are not "new best friends" any more. I guess Phil's wingeing is not making any friends for TLS. Time for plan B Phil.

1423 [Dow Jones] Relations between Telstra (TLS.AU) and the ACCC at fresh low
after TLS abandons talks with regulator on proposal to build A$3.5+ billion
Fiber-To-The-Node broadband network. ACCC Chairman Graeme Samuel tells Dow Jones
Newswires he was stunned to get call from TLS's Phil Burgess this morning
telling him plan was "off the table." Samuel says Telstra's claim the ACCC
didn't understand the commercial aspects of the FTTN proposal is "nonsense."
However, adds "Telstra is not the only game in town" - notes G9, led by Optus
(T48.SG), also planning FTTN network. "It may well be that the G9 proposal is
developed to a point where Telstra says it needs to gain access to the network,"
Samuel says. "I'd be very interested then to get their submission on what they
considered fair and reasonable access." TLS shares down 9 cents at A$3.79. (LMF)
