I think if you care to research it you'll find viruses fall within the animal kingdom.

But malaria is not caused by a virus, but by a protozoan of the genus Plasmodium which is transmitted by the anopheles mosquito.

Malaria is probably the biggest killer as a disease, but bear in mind that it has to be transmitted by the mosquito, as does Yellow Fever.

And there you have it.

The biggest killer animal (in the sense that it kills most humans/year) is the mosquito.

It's not man, nor is it malaria. .... although both of these are animals too.
