OFFICE: CVT: Comvita outlines leadership team changes
Global natural health products company Comvita (NZX: CVT) has recently
appointed key executive personnel to strengthen the company's growth
platform, and position it for the next phase of development. It also
farewells Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Roy Ong and advises a change in
role for Dr. Ralf Schlothauer.
Key Appointments:
o Mr Colin Baskin as Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) to deliver supply
efficiencies and enhance supply partnerships.
o Ms Sharon Hollenstein as Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) to drive product
innovation using our core ingredient platforms.
These two roles expand the current Leadership Team, which comprises:
o Scott Coulter, Chief Executive Officer
o Mark Sadd, Chief Financial Officer
o Patrick Brus, Chief Corporate Services Officer
Comvita CEO Scott Coulter said, "This new executive structure is in keeping
with the growth and complexity of Comvita and will meet the wider needs of
the business, including our increased strategic focus on product innovation
using our core ingredient platforms, Manuka honey, Propolis, Olive Leaf and
our new investment in Omega 3 fish oil."
"Dr. Ralf Schlothauer, who was our Chief Technology Officer, will now act in
a formal consultancy role to the company, outside of the leadership team.
Background information on the new appointments follows:
Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO), Colin Baskin; DipT, MBA (Distinction)
Colin Baskin is appointed to the newly created role of Chief Supply Chain
Officer, reflecting the importance of supply chain to Comvita. Colin has an
international career in supply chain within the Primary Sector and joined
Comvita in 2007 from ZESPRI International Ltd, where he was Global Supply
Manager. In 2014, as General Manager Supply Chain, Colin personally received
the Bay of Plenty Tertiary Partnership Export Achievement Award and in May
2015 the Comvita supply chain was awarded the NZ China Trade Association
(NZCTA) award for supply chain innovation. As CSCO, Colin has responsibility
for Comvita's global supply network including our Olive Leaf operation in
Australia and the Kiwi Bee Apiary operations. Leading a large team, Colin's
focus is on delivering supply efficiencies and enhancing our supply
partnerships.
Chief Innovation Officer (CINO), Sharon Hollenstein; B.Sc, (1st Class Hons,
Chem); PhD, Bio-Organic Chem.
Sharon Hollenstein will join Comvita on 11th of April 2016 from Fonterra,
where she has spent over 10 years in a number of high level innovation and
new product development roles; most recently in the position of Global
Manager Innovation - Anlene. In this role, Sharon was responsible for
delivering innovation initiatives that would deliver significant value
growth. Sharon also comes to us with relevant global market experience having
been based in Malaysia for two and a half years, and also holding key
positions within Fonterra that focused on the China, Asia, Europe and North
American markets. Sharon has an exceptional combination of innovation
experience within a global FMCG business, and will be a true asset to the
Comvita team.
