it's working well enough for the scammers and crooks, i got an email yesterday supposedly from Australia Federal Police, telling me i've been subpoena'ed to attend court for an alleged criminal offence i commited on March 1st this year. Also getting similar ones from Australia Post telling me about undelivered parcels, with an attachment that is no doubt a nasty virus. The AFP one also had an attatchment, i just delete this crap immediately.
