Unlike DNK which is planning to mine in a totally isolated area Sirius are planning to dig under an area of outstanding national beauty in the middle of one of Yorkshires national parks. As a result there will have to be a massive capex to put all the production facilities underground so as to not blight the landscape. Even with all these headwinds the stock has a mkt cap of £522m vs A$45m for DNK. What gives??
Sirius Minerals Announces Findings From Yorkshire Project DFS
-- Sirius Minerals announces findings from the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for its North Yorkshire polyhalite project.
- CEO Chris Fraser says business created from this project to have low operating cost structure, high margins, very long asset life; co. working with financing partners globally for initial financing
- DFS defines framework for production capacity of 20m tons per annum (Mtpa) with initial installed capacity of 10Mtpa
- Project NPV of $15b today at 10% discount rate; project NPV rising to $27b upon start of production
- Annual operational Ebitda $1b-$3b through various volume and price outcomes
- Two stages financing plan with stage 1 comprising $1.63b, stage 2 $1.93b for installation of 10Mtpa capacity
- First product expected in 2021 followed by completion of fit out and ramp-up with 10Mtpa rate anticipated in 2023
