Footy, I am in full agreement with most of that post and I can't disagree with "The only way to reduce visceral fat is to lose weight — and the only way to do that is to burn up more calories with exercise than you take in from food" but unfortunately for most of us that is easier said than done and although visceral fat is the more dangerous one for our health we lose it last.

The most important thing IMHO is to STOP PUTTING MORE ON so stop or severely reduce added fructose in the diet. It is almost impossible to lose visceral fat with a high fructose intake no matter how much exercise you do, something that I have never seen written in any diet or exercise plan (not that I have seen many, I regard the whole industry as not much better than child slavery, preying on the weak and unfortunate).

The other problem I have is the medical worlds direct correlation with waist measurement and visceral fat. How does that allow for different skeletal size. Surely a ratio (like the hip to waist) would be a better way making that estimation but I have no medical qualifications so I may have to agree to disagree on that one.

The big take home message for the diet, exercise and "beauty" industries is that it isn't the visible subcutaneous fat that is the bogeyman here it is the hidden visceral fat around the organs that will take you out in a pine box and if you are unlucky it will torture you with degrading health for many years first.
