    I posted the below some time ago but its relevant to your post and might make Labors stance clearer?



    One of the very reasons we need this up and running before March 2017 (next WA election) if Labor get in i dont see much support for new uranium mines, however McGowan did state in January 2012 that he would uphold existing mines.

    After being elected by the party on Monday, Mr McGowan said state Labor's ban on new uranium mines would remain in place but he would allow mines to be built if they had already been given final state government approval.
    The ALP opposed Premier Colin Barnett's decision to lift the state's ban on uranium mining in 2008.
    "Up until now, our policy has been to close any uranium mine under construction and revoke approvals lawfully granted allowing construction to commence," Mr McGowan said.
    "Labor is now changing that policy."
