Although Roger Sexton has been getting trashed on this forum by a certain past poster, this article, although not directly linked to BFC, tells me the business world sees him a bit differently.

A PROMINENT Adelaide businessman has added another feather in his cap in a role that will see local business leaders encouraged to reach out to overseas markets and companies. Dr Roger Sexton has been appointed president of the Australian Institute of Company Directors SA & NT for three years.

A busy man with positions on various boards, including chair of publicly-listed IOOF Holdings and fast-growing, Asia-focused Beston Global Food Company, Mr Sexton said he was ready for a new challenge.
The Australian Institute of Company Directors provides education, information and advocacy for company directors nationally and a membership base of 37,000 - about 2800 in SA & NT.
He replaces Kevin Osborn, who retired from the position. The economist and banker said he would particularly emphasise linking to opportunities emerging out of Asia.

While he was not looking to change the way AICD operated in SA & NT, he would look to bring added value into that model by giving it an international profile. “The organisation has taken a step forward in SA with a new members’ lounge and business centre in the Westpac Building to be opened in the next few months.
“I am keen to inject some overseas banking, trade and investment experience.

“For Australian companies to successfully engage with companies in other countries, we need to make sure that international partners understand the high level of compliance standards in Australian,” he said.
“Problems can arise unless Asian business partners understand how and why we operate the way we do.”
AICD chief executive Carmel Noon said Mr Sexton was a natural successor chosen for his wealth of experience. “Kevin and Roger have different styles of working, but the outcomes are the same.
