That's exactly the plan. On one hand if they back down they will look weak and more concerned about their pay than their beliefs and on the hand if they stand strong they will probably lose their jobs but save some credibility (if they have any). Either way Malcolm wins while looking strong for taking a tough stance. It was a good decision from him. Ad about time too.
