Generally silica sand is used if sand is the proppant of choice so I would expect that any proppant will be imported to the region. Any sand proppant needs to have a mesh size, crush strength and roundness to support high conductivity. I'd definitely expect to see some form of ceramic, the well bore temperature would also probably point towards ceramic.
