For Australian based miners when the AUD is low profits are higher. Because commodities (revenue) are paid in USD and then costs such as wages and operation costs are paid in AUD.
In general low dollar means more outside investment coming into Australia. Exactly the same reason for example why the Chinese suppress their currency as they're so dependent on exports.
