THE BUGOTU Landowners Association (BLA) has refuted an article from Mining Company, Axiom which was published in the media over the weekend.

The article mentioned that Axiom will focus on south San Jorge, the second tenement of the Isabel Nickel Project.

The statement also mentioned that Axiom will work closely with national and Isabel Provincial Government and landowners from San Jorge to develop the tenement, as always in line with the values of Build, Share, Protect that are based on principles of inclusion and respect.

However speaking to this paper spokesperson for BLA, Tomson Tavake said Landowners of South San Jorge have nothing to do with Axiom.

“As landowners of the said tenement, we the landowners of South San Jorge refute the claims,” he said.
Mr Tavake said the Bugotu Landowners Association will not work with any existing investors, but will look for new investors.

He said the association will work closely with the government and any interested investors in its future plans.

This paper understands that BLA is currently hosting a number of meetings in an effort to put the association in order.

The Association is on a move to pursue its Mining License Application.

Axiom Mining Company said they have successfully undergone a financial restructure that provides $60 million to develop the Isabel Nickel Project, even after the recent Court of Appeal decision that required Axiom to reapply for prospecting rights on Kolosori land.

Chief Executive Officer of Axiom Mining Company Mr Ryan Mount confirmed that Axiom’s Board and shareholders remained supportive of investing in Solomon Islands as they recognise the country’s potential and were committed to Axiom’s landowner partners, who own 20% of the project.

“Axiom will continue to honour our commitment to the landowners via our joint venture company Axiom KB,” he said.
